Levi Thompson, Assistant Professor of Arabic, was recently interviewed by the popular literary website ArabLit about his work translating the Syro-Palestinian poet Ramy al-Asheq, who now lives in Germany. Ever Since I Did Not Die, a book of essays translated into English by Dr. Isis Nusair and edited by Professor Thompson, will appear soon with the Arab List at Seagull Books. My Heart Became a Bomb, a book of al-Asheq’s poetry translated into English by Dr. Thompson, will come out with the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies Press in January 2021 and now My Heart Became a Bomb is available for purchase.
