The Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in Chinese literature and culture. The department also cooperates with a special program in Comparative Literature to offer a Ph.D. in comparative literature with a focus on Chinese literature. The department offers language courses in Chinese (Mandarin) to degree-seeking students as well as non-degree seeking students. To determine the appropriate level of language course before enrolling, students with experience in the language are required to take a Language Placement Exam. This exam is administered through the Anderson Language and Technology Center (ALTEC). Please visit the ALTEC website and click on the link to the exam.*
